Chicago Email Marketing | Email Marketing, Explained

Chicago email marketing is a great way to get your business’s products and services in front of both your current and potential customers.  You can tell them about an upcoming promotion, a new service you are offering, or a product you want to showcase. The best part? Email marketing is still growing. Gmail alone has over 1 billion users worldwide, with predictions that there will be 3 billion email users worldwide by 2020. So how do you get started on this growing trend? Keep reading to find out.

Get Your List Together

You know your client’s or patient’s chart with their email attached? Send your emails directly to that email! If you have patients with no email, make a note in their chart before they come in to get that information from them.  If you own a business that sells products, ask for your customer’s email before check-out.  You’ll be surprised how many customers want to stay informed about specials and offers!  If you are at an event where you are selling products, gather customers emails and put them in a separate list in your Chicago email marketing software.  That way, you can send them a thank you email for their purchase and get them excited to hear more from you. This is known as segmenting your list, a powerful way to individualize your email campaigns.

Chicago Email Marketing Content

Now that you have your email marketing list together, decide what you want to send these customers.  It can be as simple as highlighting a few of your services.  Include the title of the service, a brief description, and a photo that is relevant to the service.  Keep your content short and sweet—the average person receives about 121 emails per day. So get to the point, quickly! If you are sending an email about your products, be sure to only include 1-3 photos of products.  As the number of images in an email increases, the clickthrough rate of the email tends to decrease.

Don’t Forget Your Call to Action!

At the end of the email, you will want to include a call to action. This can be something like “give us a call to schedule an appointment” or “stop by today!” Most importantly, this Call to Action is your chance to get your customer or patient to come in and purchase something. This is the time for your email marketing campaign to shine!

When to Send Your Email

Now that you’re ready to send your email, you need to decide when you want to reach your precious list of customers and potential customers.  You want to make sure you get to them when they are checking their email. The average email user tends to check email either on their morning or evening commute, or when they are sitting at home relaxing after dinner.  The highest volume of people in Chicago is online during the hours of 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. So, try to send out your email during that time period.

Keep in mind that it may take an hour or so to send out to your whole list if you have a large list you are sending to. You also want to pay attention to what day of the week you are sending out to your email.  Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are the most popular because they avoid the beginning of the week blues and the end of the week itchy-feet.
