This will ultimately destroy your post’s click-through rate. Think of each post on Facebook like an online ad. You want to make it clear to everyone what you are looking to accomplish with your post.
Too Much Text
Facebook posts should be clear and concise. Just think about when you go on Facebook. Are you more likely to read a post that is short or one that is long? Chances are you are going to read the short post over the long one. Your posts on your business page should be short little nuggets that either convey a message right there or get people to click on a link that gives them more information. A good rule of thumb is the Twitter rule. Try and keep your post within that 140 to 280-character limit that Twitter imposes.
Directly Promoting Something
We aren’t saying you can’t promote something like a product in your Facebook post, just make sure you get creative when doing it. These types of posts need to provide some value for users, either in the form of entertainment or valuable information. Don’t just post a sales pitch, it does nothing for the people coming across your page and they aren’t likely to interact with it.
Begging for Interaction
You obviously want people to like and share not just your posts, but also your page. That’s great, you should want that. Having people like and share your posts and page will result in more people seeing it which can result in more customers or clients. There is, however, a right and wrong way to do it. Straight up asking people Asking people to like and share your posts and pages is a big no. You need to provide some form of incentive or interest to propel people to engage with you. That incentive can come the form is some sort of coupon or rebate, or even in the form of some sort of exclusive information that only people that like your page get.
