Weebly Review | Why You Should NOT Use Weebly

If you have been in the market for either a new website or a re-design of your current website, chances are you have probably come across Weebly. Weebly is an e-commerce company specializing in website creation and integrated marketing for small businesses. While at first glance it might seem like Weebly offers a great product, don’t be fooled. Read this Weebly review to learn just a few of the reasons why you should NOT use them.

Reason #1: You Won’t Own Your Website

When using a company like Weebly, you will never truly own your website. Sure, you will own your company and your company’s name, but Weebly will own your website and domain name. Basically, with Weebly, you will be leasing your own name as far as your website is concerned. This can cause numerous problems when it comes to ranking on Google and SEO. Since you won’t own your website you can’t fully control what goes on it. Also, once you no longer pay for Weebly’s services, your website will cease to exist meaning that you will have to start all over again.

Reason #2: You Can’t Transfer Your Website

Since you technically don’t own your website, you won’t have any control over where your website is hosted. Having control over your web hosting platform is crucial as your web hosting platform is how the rest of the world is able to access your web pages. If your web host is slow, encounters significant amounts of downtime or becomes unreliable, you essentially can’t do anything about it.

Reason #3: You Can’t Customize Your Website

While this might not seem like a big deal initially, down the line this could pose a problem. Using Weebly means you are stuck with whatever they want to do. You won’t have any say or control over the customization of your website. You will be stuck using the tools they have.
